Belle Son Mas Luxury Finca Hotel

The gardens and grounds are open, peaceful and beautifully kept, with a spotless, elegant farmhouse as the main building. After dinner, coffee in the stone tunnel lounge was just the thing. Beaches were easy to reach and had plenty of parking at that time of year, the first week of October. We had great weather too, around 25 in the daytime and cooler at night for sleeping. From meeting Ingmar at reception to checking out, our stay was wonderful. My wife and I often choose boutique hotels, and Son Mas ranks among the best we’ve tried. Even the standard junior suite was huge, with a massive comfortable bed and a real sense of space and quiet. The staff were lovely. Big hello to Ingmar, Cynthia and Mercedes. Breakfast was as varied and generous as you’d expect at a good hotel, and the made-to-order dishes were done very well every day. We stayed half board. Don’t snack before dinner, the servings are huge. We’re serious food lovers and thought the cooking was comfortably at good bistro level, with a touch of flair. The wine list was very well priced, though there weren’t enough by-the-glass choices. The COVID measures were handled perfectly. Staff wore masks indoors without fuss, and guests were asked to do the same. Almost everyone did, and because my wife is in the “clinically extremely vulnerable” group, we both felt completely at ease. We’re thinking of returning next October instead of our usual Caribbean trip, and using Son Mas as our base for a couple of weeks. It was that good. Getting home to North London was easy too, about 8 hours from hotel door to home door. Tip: be sure to hire a car.
