We liked the room size, comfortable beds and lovely balcony, but the rooms weren't clean. Our feet were black after walking on the bedroom floors all week, and I saw cleaners using dirty mops and not using bleach. The lifts were dirty too, despite lots of cleaners being around every day. The building feels dated and poorly maintained. On arrival, the exterior windows were huge but dirty and covered in dust. The red carpet at the entrance was filthy, and the glass on the front revolving door was broken and taped up. Common areas need attention. This may have been a four-star hotel before, but it no longer feels like one. We were told we only got one towel per day. It was small, faded, old and poor quality, like a cheap Lidl towel, and they should have replaced it years ago. The sunbeds seemed to be the cheapest kind from Lidl next door, bending in the middle even though I'm not fat. The towels and loungers don't give a four-star impression. Food was average at best and far too expensive for the quality. A plate of poor-quality chips cost €10, and meals were priced like those at a quality restaurant. Restaurant staff were nice, especially the older gentleman, but the place was never busy, probably because the food is such a rip-off for what you get. They seem to penny-pinch on food, portions, towels and sunbeds, while charging four-star prices for three-star food. At the pool, the lifeguard was never there and spent the day inside talking with bar staff. The pool had no atmosphere. Some days there was music, some days not, and when it was on, it was barely audible. Reception staff were professional and not rude, but they weren't friendly or welcoming when we arrived. It's not a bad place and it has some good points, but I wouldn't call it a four-star hotel.
