Hotel Avenida 31

I’ve only been to the ground-floor restaurant, which is open to everyone. The food is excellent value and the service is very friendly, but it takes a long, long time to arrive. It seems the staff talking to each other in the small kitchen and bar area takes priority.

We stay here often, and the owners are one reason we keep coming back. They’re kind, warm, knowledgeable, and top notch. The hotel also makes it easy to walk to so many restaurants, and the beach is only a short walk away, about 1000 meters. My wife and I highly recommend it.

I usually try not to leave bad reviews, but this has left me with mixed feelings. Our first night was fine, with a calm atmosphere and friendly service. They said it’s a family business, and you can feel that kind of environment there. Later, we came back just for coffee because we liked the atmosphere, and that visit was fine too. The last time, we went for coffee as usual, then I decided at the last minute to have breakfast too. I didn’t ask the price and trusted the seller to be honest. After eating, I found that two standard coffees and a simple omelette cost as much as a full meal for one person at an average restaurant. I paid quietly and left, but I won’t be back. Trying to grab a quick extra bit of money gets in the way of building loyal customers.

There’s a lot of room for improvement. Staff walked past while we sat with empty glasses for more than 20 minutes. The starters came out at different times, and the main course did too. Some of it could have been hotter, especially the French fries, which were cold. It just needs more attention to detail.
