Seeing the Castle each morning and again before bed was part of what made those days so good for me. Visitors can’t go inside, but it still stands above the old town like an icon.

The castle and its walls cover a large part of the old town. Wandering the narrow cobbled streets beside them and following their curve is lovely, and well worth doing when you visit.
Marta K.
It dates to the 10th century, but you can’t go inside, so there’s only a short walk around it. The pink trees nearby are nice.

Castillo de Marbella, or Marbella Castle, dates from the 10th and 11th centuries, when the region was under Muslim rule. It formed part of the town’s defenses, and remnants of the original walls and towers are still visible, though much of the fortress is now in ruins. The site sits in the heart of Marbella, amid the modern town, and adds to the old town’s historical character. You can stroll through the area, but entry to the castle isn’t possible.
Mantas J.
There are only a few castle remains, but if you’re in the old town, they’re worth a look :)
