Villa San Francisco

Franklin was a fantastic host, friendly, helpful, and really accommodating. The little hotel is quiet and feels secluded, though by car it’s quite close to the main roads and beach areas.

We wanted somewhere away from the busy Marbella resort, but still with easy access to the center if we wanted the bustle. This villa hotel is on a cliff top, and was a good fit. It’s beautifully decorated and very clean, and definitely unique. The owner, Diaa, was a genuine host who went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. He knew Marbella and places to go very well. The manager, who was on site most of the time, was also approachable and helpful. The current owner took over from the previous management in 2018, and the hotel had exciting plans for 2020, including adding an evening meal and remaking the spa area. Breakfast was a typical Mediterranean buffet of cheese, ham, boiled eggs, toast, yogurts, and fruit. Although the stated hours were 8am to 11am, they were flexible, and many mornings I went around 12pm. The hotel was very accommodating. The spa was undergoing maintenance because we stayed out of season, so all the facilities weren’t available, but we enjoyed the steam and sauna rooms. With a car, the center, nearby shopping mall, and beaches are within a 10-minute drive. There’s plenty of parking, and the hotel is gated, so security is very good. We used Uber, too, and an average fare was €5. We’d definitely recommend Hotel San Francisco and are planning to rebook soon.

It’s a convenient, quiet hotel, and we enjoyed our stay. Franklin kindly helped us with all the services. Parking in Marbella is very hard to find, so I’d recommend taking a taxi from the hotel to the city. It costs about 10€ each way. Enjoy!

The hotel is affordable for the area, looks nice inside, and is pretty well maintained. One staff member was fantastic, while the other came across as cold and dry. Nothing about the place was especially “wow,” but overall the quality was decent.
