Hospedium Casa Convento Sierra de María

These days, the former convent gives people in Maria a place to come together and helps the community stay close-knit. It’s a wonderful, positive addition to the village. The town bought the convent after it was abandoned in the 1980s and brought it back to life. It had been active and full of life until the nuns left in the 1960s, apparently for economic reasons, and the town was suffering. Well done to the town for creating this gift of connection for its people.

The rooms were simple, but had all the basics we needed. We spent a day in Maria and at casa convento, and really appreciated the hospitality and great service. Communication was easy too. I’d recommend it!

We had a lovely two-day stay here. The place is spacious and recently renovated, with new mattresses, a living room, a well-equipped kitchen, and a swimming pool. It was a pleasure to be there.

I liked the village, with its nice local bars, good food wherever you go, and things to do in the mountains. The old convent has been beautifully renovated into a thoughtfully designed hostel. The room I chose had its own bathroom.
