The only things in its favor were parking under the hotel and the very helpful front desk person. We won’t return, and I’d suggest others considering it don’t either. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. I’d put it at 2 stars at best, or 3 at a stretch, though that does a disservice to several excellent 3 star hotels we’ve stayed in. The decor is extremely tired. Our towels had holes, as did the blanket on the bed. Both reading lights were hanging off the wall, the floor was badly scratched, and the ceiling above the shower was blistered and mouldy.

The location is excellent, close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping, and the breakfast buffet is really good. We’re staying here now, and the lobby, elevator, and hallways are quite impressive. But then you get to the room and it’s shabby. I like the wooden floors and everything is clean, but a lot needs changing. I can’t imagine it would cost much to replace the curtains, paint the ceiling, remove the wallpaper, redo the wooden floors, and replace or get rid of the worn upholstered chair. If those things were fixed, you could probably charge close to $200 a night instead of $124, and I’d come back. By the way, stop making it look like you have a pool. I asked at reception and they said NO.

Basic room, and a bit of a botched job. The TV had been unplugged, so I had to fiddle with the plug. The air conditioning sort of wasn’t running, and it’s quite humid here. Not impressed.

There was a lingering cigarette smell throughout the hotel, which was extremely disgusting. The food was awful too. It tasted like plastic, and the “steak,” if you can call it that, was like rubber and raw. The fries were the worst I’ve ever had. Water pressure was terrible, and the shower temperature kept swinging between scalding hot and freezing. The rooms were decent, but the bathroom layout was odd, with a doorstop right in front of the toilet. A horrible, super weird experience. This is definitely a 1 star hotel posing as 4 star, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
