Bahía - 30º Hotels

We loved this seaside hotel. It’s an older place, but it’s been well cared for, and dogs are welcome.

We’ve stayed here twice now and noticed some welcome updates: the bedroom has fresh paint, new curtains, and furniture with plenty of storage. I’d appreciate pillows more like the two or four you’d normally get on a British double bed, though. We don’t find the firm Spanish bolster rolls comfortable. That’s a small complaint in a hotel we otherwise really like. It’s spotless and has an old-fashioned charm. You get a basic, very clean stay, friendly and accommodating service, and an enclosed private parking area, right by the beach. For the money, that feels fair. It’s not a costly four-star beach hotel, and anyone looking for elaborate decor, a five-star breakfast, and suited waiters should probably choose somewhere else. We’ll keep staying here when we’re passing through, and would recommend it to people who value the charm and the basics at a basic price.

The hotel has a 70s feel in its construction and decor, but the price was fairly affordable for the location and beach. The terrace bar on the main floor has especially good views and great music, and there’s another little bar downstairs by the beach with music too. Our room was very clean, the bed linens and towels looked new, and the AC worked beautifully. We were in room 102, and the sewer smell from the WC hit as soon as we entered, even with its door shut. Opening the bathroom windows to air it out was a big mistake: large flying cockroaches can come in because there’s no mosquito netting. We saw one scurry from under the window toward the tub. The staff came up and checked thoroughly but never found it. They only offered spray for mosquitoes and flies, so we slept with a towel along the bottom of the WC door and tried to get used to the smell. We hardly used that bathroom and went to the lobby one a floor down instead. One more thing: parking was free until August 13, 2024, but now it costs 10€ per night to leave the car in their outdoor parking area. It’s enclosed, though there’s no security and anyone could walk in. You pay 10€ for the barrier token, then get that money back when you return it. If you ask, they might let you leave the car a bit later so you can enjoy the beach before heading out. Reception is said to be open 24/7, but we had to wait because the person on duty was elsewhere checking things out, so help was sparse.

The view’s the thing here. A lovely spot to sit down for a meal or just a coffee and take it all in.
