The bedrooms were the best part: each had its own bathroom, though some things had been left behind by previous guests. The rest of the house was dirty, with bugs and cobwebs in the corners that looked like they had been there for months, and filthy living room lamps. The kitchen was so disgusting we bought disposable dishes. Outside, the garden was badly neglected, with overgrown grass, bushes that seemed uncut for years, and dangerous objects around for children. There were hazards inside too, and the cluttered decor looked like a haunted house. The owners kept living there during our stay, which felt intimidating, and they came and went as they pleased. For what they charge for the supposedly entire house, they could put some of that money toward cleaning and upkeep. I wouldn't recommend it, especially for families with small children. There are much better houses in the area.

The hosts were wonderful, looked after me well, and gave useful suggestions for things to see and how to plan the trip. I visited the places they recommended and found their advice spot on. Getting there from the highway was easy, the house was simple to find, and there was plenty of parking beside it. Inside, it was peaceful and welcoming, with charming, authentic decor and spacious common areas. My bedroom and en-suite bathroom were large and very clean, and the mattress was so comfortable that I slept wonderfully. Breakfast was generous and good, and the owner served delicious homemade jam. I have no complaints about my stay and felt very comfortable.

I need to correct my earlier review, since I hadn't completed my stay when I wrote it. We had a family gathering and the place served its purpose, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The kitchen was the disappointment: the refrigerator, dishes and floor all needed cleaning, and the hygiene wasn't what we'd expected. I hope those issues have been fixed since my visit.

It's a cozy, peaceful place with a lot going for it, both in the people and the facilities. The price is very good, but quality matters more to me, and this place has plenty of it. The service is something you'll have to experience yourself. Five stars, since I can't give it more. I'd definitely stay here again if there were a room available.
