Pousada Armenteira

There are two restaurants and a monastery in this tiny village. The hotel is a bit of an eyesore as you arrive walking through the forest on the Camino de Santiago. The rooms are lovely, with their own outdoor space, lawn chairs, and a small table, and there’s a nice outdoor pool. I gave service three stars because after walking 25 km, all we wanted was a beer, but they didn’t serve alcohol.

We stayed for two days, and the staff were great. I especially liked the fruit selection at breakfast. I would’ve preferred coffee other than Nespresso, but that’s a small wish, not really a necessity. The beds were amazing, and the rooms were well worth the money.

That coffee machine made a real difference after our long walk. We were doing the camino and arrived cold in the drizzle, and the receptionist pointed us toward it.

Santiago at reception was very professional, spoke good English, and gave us helpful recommendations for attractions and restaurants. Our room felt new and spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was lovely. There’s also a pool and parking.
