It was good value for the money, and nowhere near as bad as we’d feared from reviews mentioning cold shower water, centipedes, and poor service. The beds and bathroom were clean, there were free clean towels, and to our surprise the room was cleaned and the towels changed while we were out. Mercadona, where you can get cheap food, was an 8-minute walk away. The rooms were dated, and the host didn’t speak English. The wall facing the hallway was so thin we heard everyone coming and going. It was a 30-minute walk into town, and one of the outlets didn’t work.

We left to find somewhere else to stay because the room was freezing. There was no proper heating, just one absurdly small radiator for the bedroom and bathroom, connected by three extension cords to the only working outlet of the three. The room we were shown also had questionable cleanliness, with mold on the ceiling. The welcome was barely polite, almost slumlord-like. Hostal Alamierda, absolutely avoid it.

For the low price, you know what to expect: this is a humble one-star hostel, fine for sleeping and little else. The rooms were clean and the beds were made. Staff were friendly, and there’s parking nearby. The bathtub was rusty and had no shower curtain, though we didn’t use it. It’s far from the center.
