Hotel Corru San Pumés

Edit: The owner's response seems to prove my point. He thinks he has the right to enter our room, but, as I understand the law, he can only do that in an emergency. The room was rented to us, so he needs to respect guests' privacy and learn what renters' rights are. He also says we forgot to ask about the pet supplement. We didn't. We told the hotel we were bringing a pet, and arranging a bill for services isn't our responsibility. The hotel has no staff 99% of the time, no one at reception, and no one answering the phone. The owner comes across as greedy and lazy, and unwilling to manage the hotel properly. We put a do not disturb sign on the door, but staff still went into the room while we were out. We know because they left our dog supplement bill on the bed. They could easily have slid it under the door. Reception blamed the cleaners, but why would the cleaners be dealing with a room bill? I didn't feel safe leaving our things there, so don't stay if privacy matters to you. The hotel is self-service and requires a code to get the room key. Our code hadn't arrived when we got there in the evening. It took several attempts and about 15 minutes to reach someone by phone. The rooms smelled very musty and damp. The ceilings were dirty and covered in spiderwebs, there were dead insects on the walls, the bedding felt damp, and two single beds had been pushed together instead of providing a double.

The rooms smell wet and damp, and the walls and ceilings are dirty. Everything is old, and while the photos make the hotel look nice, the reality is far from that. It's unstaffed 99% of the time. When receptionists are there, they're rude, and the owner is rude too. Avoid!

I stayed for two weeks, and believe me, I can be demanding :-). Ewan was helpful and friendly in every way, and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself was beautiful, clean, and so peaceful. Everything felt just right, and even my dog was comfortable. Thanks for everything, Ewan. I definitely recommend this hotel. Good luck!!!

Ewan is a friendly, helpful host who can point you to nice places to visit in the Picos de Europa. The house is clean and pleasant, with a beautiful patio, and it's ideally placed for exploring the Picos and, with a bit of a drive, the coast. Breakfast is complete and sets you up for a good day of hiking. Highly recommended!
