The toilets smelled bad, and then this morning we were woken by unforgettable drilling noise. There are no walls to insulate the rooms, so you hear everyone and everything at once. Getting there involves a long walk and stairs, which is tough if you have a lot of luggage or a big suitcase. Once inside, there are even more stairs to reach the rooms.

It's basic, clean and very friendly, with everything you need for a low price. I met some lovely people staying there and passing through. The terrace views over Mogan beach are wonderful with a morning coffee. It's very central for shops, restaurants, the beach, harbour and bus station, but sits up a very steep hill, which could be restrictive for people with mobility problems. I think it's fantastic value.

Our room was tiny and didn't have the view shown in the advertisement. Still, we were happy to stay in a quiet part of a popular tourist spot, right in the centre of the old town's pedestrian area. We'd come back if we chose to stay in this area.

The rooftop terrace was a great bonus, and the private outside door led straight down into the village, which made it feel like I was part of local life. I had my own bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The owner was hardly around after check-in. Great for one or two people, and I'd recommend it.

The terrace has one of the best views in Morgan, and the staff were friendly. But the cat urine smell on the soft outdoor furniture is so strong and ingrained that it's hard to enjoy the space. It really needs easy-clean furniture so the terrace can be used again. If you just need a room as a base and don't mind cats, the price is reasonable. The place itself is charming and full of character, and I hope they sort the smell out because I'd come back.
