Radisson Blu Resort, Gran Canaria

The poolside restaurant downstairs was a highlight. The staff there were so friendly, and we were greeted with a smile at breakfast and dinner. They served different themed meals, so there was a nice range of choices through our stay. The cleaning staff were polite and welcoming too, even though some didn’t speak English. I also liked having a small grocery shop right in the hotel for lunch bits or anything we didn’t want to drive out for. The hotel is in a lovely spot on the coast, with a beautiful view, and the rooms are spacious. The marble floors have no rugs, so they can feel cold. If you’re like me and get cold easily, bring socks. In summer, I imagine the cool floors are welcome. There was drilling and other maintenance or construction noise from around 10 am to 1 pm. It makes sense that work happens while most people are out enjoying the sun, but it could be annoying for families. We heard it while trying to put our baby down for naps. It’s not a dealbreaker, just something to know if you plan to spend a lot of time in the room.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and we’d be happy to return. Our family of four had a Superior Suite, made up of a standard double room joined to an apartment by an open doorway. There was plenty of space and a large, well-equipped balcony, though the room felt a little worn. It’s a nice resort close to Anfi Del Mar beach. The pool was very nice, but quite a bit of the tiling around its edges needed replacing. Breakfast was good, although a few items were sometimes slow to be refilled. With a little more attention to detail, it could feel more like a five-star resort.

We liked the room and its great views, and the AC worked well. The hotel restaurant was delicious, and breakfast was fresh, with eggs cooked to order. Parking was easy and the staff were accommodating. We enjoyed our stay enough to add an extra night at the end of our trip.

Ten days went by too fast. The sunny weather, over 20 degrees during the day with cooler evenings, felt like a real treat after February in England. The hotel is a short stroll from lots of restaurants and the picturesque town. Breakfast was excellent, and we could sit inside or outside. The pool area never felt too busy. Reception were welcoming and friendly, and happily moved us away from the children's play area to a room overlooking the pool and mountains. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and Mogan. We’ll be back! xx
