We've been there many times. It's a lovely hotel with great food and a prime location.

The sea was wonderfully refreshing on such a scorching day, and the breeze helped too. The seabed is rocky in spots, so bring water shoes. It’s a popular place, which means parking takes some searching, but spaces are there if you keep looking.

There’s plenty to do in summer, and the beaches don’t get too crowded. It’s a real gem on the Mediterranean, with apartments, hotels and private villas to rent instead of huge hotel blocks. Spanish families make it a busy summer destination. There are loads of bars and restaurants, and quite a few stay open through winter.

The promenade makes for a nice walk, though things look more run-down the farther you get from it. There are a few good places to eat, but also some rather unpleasant home-from-home spots. It feels like a British and Irish enclave. When you’re in Spain, go somewhere Spanish instead of following the crowd!
