The room was very cold, and I couldn't contact anyone. I was later told by management that the heating comes on at 2000h, which is no use when you arrive at 1700h. I booked ahead, but got no refund, no apology, and no reply when I raised my concerns with the Hostal. I had to go elsewhere. I've reported the accommodation to the town's tourist office and the pilgrims' office, and trust they won't recommend the Hostal Galicia. So this isn't just an old moaner complaining. I'm a very reasonable 82 year old who expects to get what the accommodation says it provides. If you're thinking of staying here for the convenience of the railway station, DON'T. Heating, or rather the lack of it in winter, is an issue others have mentioned too. The Hostal information says "heating," so I was clearly MIS-SOLD ACCOMMODATION.

Breakfast at the restaurant was a good way to get the day started. The hostal itself is minimalist but perfectly fine, and it sits right on the Camino, so it’s easy to reach. It’s in an industrial area, though, a bit far from the city center. There’s no laundry on site; a laundromat is about a 10-minute walk away and closes at 8pm.

The room was clean and reasonably priced, but some upkeep is overdue. The bathroom doors wouldn’t shut properly, so people kept banging them to close them. The spring mattress needs replacing, and there should be a blanket since the heating wasn’t on. In room 304, the blind left a lot of light coming in from dawn until 6 a.m., which made sleeping difficult.

Parking was easy to find, and the location worked well for us. The room was spacious and very clean, and we found the staff helpful whenever we needed anything. We had a perfect stay and will definitely be back soon.
