The food was stone cold when we finally found a place to sit, and the chips were soggy and chewy, as if they’d been kept lukewarm all day. We spent €35 on food, but the tables were taken over by people bringing their own food and drinks from the coaches. They left rubbish around, food on the floor, and a huge mess on the tables, which staff didn’t clean up. It was chaotic. I drove a long way out of my way to try AS Hotel as a new stop, and was hugely disappointed. We took the main meal back to the car for the dogs. I can’t understand why people are allowed to use the facilities for free and leave the tables and toilets in such a state. It’s completely ridiculous. This place is nothing like AC torrent, which is run very differently.

For a night’s stay, €38 was fair and I’d come back. The room was huge, warm, clean and nicely equipped, though there may be a problem with flies. The ladies running the hotel and restaurant were very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant basically opened just for us, and the menu del dia had plenty to choose from. The meal was good enough for what’s essentially a motorway service stop. It’s a handy spot when travelling to or from the Mediterranean on the A23.

A big room and good value made this a welcome break on my cycle south. I brought my bike into the room and was careful around the walls. Breakfast was a small extra, €3.

The room itself was good and the location ideal, but the meal was inedible, so we left it. Staff seemed not to care whether they served you, and I saw people give up and leave without buying anything. After 25 years living in Spain, this is honestly the worst place I’ve stayed. I won’t stay here again.
