The breakfast was stressful, with queues and broken coffee machines. There were no proper vegetables, just a sad salad and a plastic-tasting tomato, even though good produce shouldn't be hard to find in Catalonia. The lobby bar was freezing, short on bartenders for the number of guests, and the room-service phone kept ringing loudly the whole time. The room had plenty of space, but dust on the furniture. We got two small bottles of water on day one and none the next day. It was very hot, and we couldn't lower the temperature, so we opened the window. That let in the pigeons and the noise of people leaving the parking area. We booked at the last minute because the price seemed reasonable for a four-star place. The reception staff seemed to hate their jobs and were mean. We had to ask about everything, much of which could have been explained better on the website or in room brochures. They said we only needed shoes and swim caps for the spa, and to take a bathrobe from our room. They left out that getting there meant walking outside in the cold, which made it easy to get sick. The spa was the coldest I've ever been to. It was 21 degrees inside and the water was very cold. It was crowded too, with people packed together like sardines in the Jacuzzis and hammam. The place felt overpriced for the low quality of what we saw. They need to update the tech, facilities, and team. This isn't really for the hotel, since they clearly don't care, but for people thinking of visiting.

The room was lovely, and we really liked having a Jaquizzi in the bathroom. The bar and food were ok, too. But reception didn't answer when we called down. When I asked whether there was coffee in the room, I got a sneer and was told, "no you come down here and make your own". The receptionist was very rude and short-tempered, whether she hates her job or was having a bad day. They also said it was "impossible" to bring a corkscrew to the room. Avoid if rude receptionists bother you.

The hotel internet was very slow, and the minibar held some very old food that smelled awful and couldn't be identified. Nobody seemed interested in any of this. In 2025, this "4-star" hotel will really be down to two stars. The main issue for us was the air conditioning, which was advertised online but had simply been switched off, apparently to save money at guests' expense. The receptionist knew what was happening but first claimed it was old and just needed time to cool the room, which was lie number one. We left it running for two hours, and the room got even warmer and smelled of dusty, stale air. When I went back, he said the air conditioning across the whole hotel had broken and they were working on it, lie number two. He told me to complain in the morning when the manager arrived, lie number three. There was no manager anywhere the next morning, and Pinokio's night shift was over. We opened the windows overnight to let the stale air out and get some fresh air in, but only a mosquito came in. My wife was bitten, and her skin itched and her hand stayed swollen for two weeks. For compensation, all we got was half a litre of water for the trip. This might have been a four-star hotel when it was built 20 years ago, but it's been squeezed dry since, with no money going back into renovation or modernization. The carpets are bleached and the wood is fake-looking. There was so much wrong that I don't know where to begin.

Breakfast was superb. It's a luxury hotel, though a bit old. There's a warm mineral pool inside, but everyone has to pay for the services.

We had a standard room, which was roomy enough, very clean, and had a comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was great, with cava, different cheeses and ham, fresh orange juice, and jazz music. We skipped the spa since it was summer. The hotel is surrounded by a lovely park, more like a botanical garden, and has a great outdoor pool. The atmosphere was completely relaxed, and the location was great. You can walk into the city center through the Aqua tonic entrance. There are dinner options both outside and inside the hotel, and pets are welcome. Absolutely recommended. We'll definitely come back!
