The restaurant food was so good that I ate there every night, even though dinner wasn’t included. Breakfast coffee was the one small letdown. Everything else was amazing, and the staff were brilliant and helpful. I spent three days at Hotel Cortijo Salinas last week for my first ever solo escape, and it was perfect. My room was spacious, very clean, and had a lake view over the Pantano Zahara-El Gastor (Reservoir). The hotel’s idyllic setting and incredible views made it a wonderful stay. I’ll definitely come back, perhaps with my family, or maybe not!

The views were lovely, and being away from the city made for a relaxing break. My husband and I spent both nights reading and playing games by the fireplace in the common area, which was such a nice spot. Service was great, and dinner and breakfast were delicious. The place has a quaint feel, though the decor looked like it was from 2005 and could use a refresh. That didn’t affect our stay.

The spa was good and private, though the psychedelic lights were a bit much. It cost €57/couple, and we paid €130 for a terrace room in May. Dinner was €45/pax, with a sunset, a bottle of good crianza, tacos and artichoke, oxtail with vegetables, pork cheek cannelloni, cheesecake, water, and coffee. The recently refurbished country hotel is in a former family estate, with a direct view of the Zahara dam. The double rooms are small and poorly sound isolated, but have large terraces. There’s a big restaurant with a classic menu and a limited wine card at fair prices, and the service is generally informal.

We enjoyed the quiet of the Andalusian countryside at this well maintained hotel, set in a peaceful stretch of the mountains. We stayed one night after driving through the strikingly beautiful Sierra Nevada and stopping in scenic Ronda. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was included and tasty. I also ate at the hotel restaurant. The meal was good, though the rabo de toro was a little tough and fatty. All in all, it was a great experience and I’d recommend it, especially if you’d rather not stay in Ronda itself or want somewhere quiet.

The view from the back seating area is stunning, and the outdoor spaces are lovely, from the little courtyard and front porch to the adorable little church. I happened upon this place while touring the area and stopped for a late lunch. The main house has tasteful, classic Spanish cortijo decor, and the property is very well kept. Service was friendly and professional, and the food was excellent quality. Couples were staying there, and they also host weddings and private events. It’s well worth the trip, and I’ll visit again.
