Villa Bernia

There are break-ins at this house every week, even when guests are inside. Someone came in while my two daughters were asleep. They get through the ground-floor windows and take whatever they can. The owner and agency know about it but haven’t done anything, like adding simple bars, or warned guests, which costs nothing. No professional ethics. I’m not saying they’re complicit in the weekly burglaries, but they could stop this happening again.

Our house was burgled during our stay, the first week of August, beginning on the 24th. Reviews suggest we’re not the first. They broke into three bedrooms while children were sleeping and took several things. The agency has washed its hands of it. Their service was already poor, including making us drive 30 minutes to Calpe to collect and return the keys. We reported the burglary, but they had no insurance, despite the house having very accessible ground-floor windows. The house also has no air conditioning or fans, even in a very hot area in summer, so we had to leave windows open and make break-ins easier.

We were robbed one night, and neither the agency nor the owner showed interest in what happened or had insurance for the stolen belongings. The windows are at street level, with no bars, and are old, have no shutters, and were missing curtains. A disaster. The villa also wasn’t equipped for so many people, with no closets in many rooms or even shelves for our things. There’s no air conditioning either. We requested five portable units but were only allowed to use two, so we had to leave windows open, with all the mosquitoes in the area. Check-in was delayed until 7:30 p.m. because cleaning wasn’t finished, and we were left waiting. If you want comfort, peace, and good service, I wouldn’t recommend this villa or agency.

We were robbed while out having dinner in Moraira, and the house has no security measures and is easy to access. The agency showed no interest and didn’t help us file a police report, which caused us a lot of trouble. The villa is old and next to several abandoned houses, which made the place feel unsafe. There are no mosquito nets either, so we had to sleep with the windows open, with lots of mosquitoes around.
