Casa La Mestra

We had a wonderful weekend together. The wood-burning stove made the house feel so cozy, and it had everything we needed. Mónica was incredibly welcoming and helped us all the way through. We'd definitely come back!

The house has several serious issues. The mattresses were poor quality, and one sagged in the middle. All three frying pans were badly scratched, with the coating worn through to the aluminum. The fireplace flue was broken, so it ran at full blast with no way to control the heat. The repaired chimney pipe gave off a pretty unpleasant plastic smell. The sofa sagged and was very uncomfortable, and the wardrobe had hangers but no shelves for clothes. When I raised the mattress, fireplace, and frying pan problems, the only solution I got was for the pans. They wouldn't deliver replacements to the house, and told me I had to collect them in Morella, a 15-minute drive away. I've been doing rural tourism for over 30 years and have never been charged for firewood before. Here, it was €10 for low-quality pine or similar wood. I've also never been charged extra to leave a little later when no new guests were arriving that day. Here, leaving at 4 pm instead of 12 pm cost me €20. That last point is my subjective opinion. The problems with the house are factual. The village is lovely and peaceful, and the surroundings are beautiful. The management was a big disappointment.

We’re photographers, and we’ve rarely seen night skies this bright. The peace and quiet are wonderful, with nature all around in a beautiful landscape. It’s a rustic house in a small village, and every detail has been thoughtfully cared for. A 10 out of 10 if this is the kind of place you’re after.

Mónica was delightful, explained everything, and was always ready to help. We’ll definitely return. The house is charming, decorated with taste while keeping its original character. It’s in a village 15 minutes from Morella, so it’s very peaceful.
