The place has been in the same family since 1816, now run by its fourth generation. The traditional Basque food was a real pleasure, with excellent produce and recipes done very well. It isn't cheap, but it isn't overly expensive either. A very enjoyable experience.

The views from the comedor were fabulous, and the atmosphere and service were both very good. We had Alubias con sacramentos for four at lunch, and it was absolutely delicious with plenty for everyone. We even found room for Arroz con leche, Tarta de queso, and a cheese board. The wine selection is very good too. Excellent restaurant and hotel in a quiet village. Thoroughly recommend the restaurant.

The restaurant upstairs was delicious, and we ate there on three of our five nights. We had an incredible five-night stay at hotel Katxi in a small town near Morga, surrounded by the green hills of urdaibai. It was so calm there, and the location gave us plenty of options. Our 'lolita' room was tastefully decorated, with probably the biggest bed I've ever slept in. The hotel has a lovely mix of character, tradition, and modernity. But what made the stay was our host, who couldn't have been kinder or more thoughtful. Highly recommended.
