Finca Naturacanaria

We spent about a week and a half at this finca around the end of February and had a good stay. The owner was very helpful, and we enjoyed the quiet mountain setting away from the city. The apartment had a separate bedroom with a somewhat small double bed, plus a bathroom with a shower cabin. It was well equipped with central heating, two TVs, a fridge, cooker, microwave, toastie maker, kettle, and other things. Wi-Fi was good, and Netflix worked fine. Las Palmas beaches are about a 50-minute drive, and a smaller beach is around 30 minutes away. On arrival, the owner meets you at Sibora restaurant in Fontanales. I'd suggest staying on the GC70 to get there. The little navigation shortcuts can be nerve-wracking and save very little time, and Sibora is on the GC70 anyway.

The hot tub didn't work, and then the host claimed we'd never booked it in advance. There were huge patches of mold in the flat, and every duvet and sheet smelled of old dust. Privacy was almost nonexistent: the bedroom window looked onto the terrace of the next flat. Black millipedes came through the shower drain and under the doors. We counted about 50 that first night, with bugs everywhere, apparently because of the rain. When we raised all these problems, the host said we were the issue and weren't used to the Spanish countryside, and even lied to our faces about what was wrong. It was supposed to be a romantic nature getaway with the place to ourselves and all the comforts to relax, but it was awful. We arrived late and got stuck there for one night, even though we'd booked five. The score on Booking was an amazing 9.4/10, which makes no sense to me. We had to get away for our own health and managed to get Booking.com support to refund the other four nights. We wasted a day of our holiday and a lot more time finding somewhere else. In short, get out, it's awful.

The setting was peaceful, and the house was well cared for and equipped, a lovely place to switch off. Mrs. Carmen welcomed us so warmly from the moment we arrived, and her service was exceptional. She's kind and friendly and always checked that everything was right. Thanks as well to Mrs. Juana, who looks after the property with so much care. You can see their dedication in the details. The grounds and nearby trails were lovely to wander, and we made good use of the pool. Our cave house was so cozy, just the kind of place to switch off for a while. Thanks as always for everything, Carmen. We love coming back and will be here again soon.
