Mundaka Sea Flat

We were excited about staying here, but that anticipation turned out to be misplaced. It was the most expensive of our seven stops and, by far, the worst. The apartment is right in the center and has a lovely view from a sort of balcony. Unfortunately, you see it through glass that gets very hot in the sun, and smokers were sharing the view with us. Villagers also walk across the balcony to reach a bay. The walls and floors had been redone, but the place was otherwise spartan, with old equipment, dirt and a lot of noise. The owner was inattentive and communicated poorly. We can't recommend it.

A comfortable, charming place, with lovely views and a peaceful feel.

The welcome was friendly and on time, but felt rushed. We weren't shown how to use the equipment or given suggestions for nearby shops, cafes, or restaurants. The apartment is clean, reasonably comfortable and mostly well maintained. One example of a problem: the shower head is too small to stay on its holder, and the bar can no longer be adjusted for height. The equipment is adequate but limited. There's a microwave but no oven, kettle or toaster. There's a washing machine but no dishwasher, yet two TVs. The kitchenware is very basic, with no coffee cups, bowls or ramekins, teapot, serving dishes, salad bowls or cutting board. There's enough storage in the bedroom to unpack. We slept very well. The bedding is comfortable and the surroundings quiet. The terrace looks out to sea, and having breakfast there while the sun rises is lovely. The heating works well, which was helpful in mid-March. Despite some shortcomings that could be easily fixed, it's a pleasant place with a magnificent view and good value for money.

The location is wonderful, which makes the poor cleaning and upkeep even more disappointing. This was my fifth stay in the same apartment, and each time I leave less happy. I end up cleaning the oven myself whenever I visit, so I get the feeling it only gets cleaned about once a year. The sink in the bedroom doesn’t drain right, and I had to use the other bathroom. There were also stains on the living room table from an uncleaned coffee cup, and stains on the kitchen counter.
