Hotel Nelva

Breakfast was the best part of our stay. The receptionists were great, but the waiter was unfriendly. He served us the last of a red wine bottle, which wasn't good, and charged us 4 euros. For a 4-star hotel, I expected a proper hair dryer, too. The rooms and washrooms were old, and the hotel's strong smell was unpleasant, like cheap cologne mixed with tobacco or bad air freshener. It wasn't downtown as expected, and the nearby areas seemed very bad. I wouldn't want to walk there alone.

We loved being able to walk everywhere, though buses and taxis are right outside if you'd rather not. The cathedral and most tourist sights are about an 18-minute walk away, and we tried a few different routes several times a day. Our rooms were quiet, clean, and comfortable, especially with the air conditioning. We were on the third floor facing the road, and the pool and its surroundings were fabulous. The pool staff kept things safe and made sure guests didn't block the sun loungers. We stayed a few days with our adult children and absolutely loved it.

The breakfast buffet had a good selection. Rooms were well equipped and very clean, and the staff were both professional and friendly. Great hotel!

Murcia gets very quiet in the afternoons in July, and it was hard to find anywhere to eat or drink before 20:30. The city has some nice places to visit, and the cathedral and centre are a 15-20 minute walk away. We chose this hotel because Simple Minds were playing at the Plaza de Toros, about 15 minutes on foot. The rooms were clean and spacious, the pool was clean, and breakfast had plenty of choice. I saw a notice saying the pool doesn't open until late May, so check ahead if that's important to you.
