The food, drinks and service were amazing, and I’d love to come back after the place has been updated. Our split-level room had the bedroom upstairs, but it was far too hot and the bed was very hard, so we didn’t sleep well. The bathroom was okay, though tired-looking and very dark. The rooms overall need updating too.

The rooms have a rustic feel, and the beds are two small ones pushed together to make a king, which wasn’t ideal for a married couple but worked fine. I also liked the scent of the shower soaps. There are several quiet spots to sit, a cozy bar with a pool table, and a lovely breakfast. It’s not the fanciest place I’ve stayed, but it’s very comfortable.

Arties is a pretty little village, with a few lovely bars and restaurants, and it makes a good base for June hikes outside the ski season. We spent two nights at the hotel. The staff were superb, friendly, hardworking, and very helpful. Musset looked after the bar and restaurant, and Andrea made our stay a delight with her warm manner. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped, with great views from both it and the bedroom. Our room felt cramped because of too much unnecessary furniture. The food was a letdown and took away from an otherwise great hotel stay.

The setting among the mountains is spectacular, and the pool was a lovely place to read, sleep, and swim. We also stopped at the sauna for 15 minutes with my eldest son. The parador may be outdated, but who cares in a place like this? An unbeatable experience!

The hotel was a delight, and I was blown away by this part of Spain. We were welcomed warmly at check-in, and the bar and dining room staff were just as friendly. The local dishes were amazing and well worth trying. I’ve seen reviews calling the hotel tired, but in such an old building I think that adds to its charm. I’m looking forward to coming back.
