San Camilo

The only real drawback was a rather noisy helicopter service nearby. Otherwise, this is a strongly recommended stop on the Camino St Frances in N Spain, right beside the path. The hotel is well kept, with a clean, comfortable bedroom in pleasant grounds, and it was originally an old Bodegas. Staff were helpful and efficient. The evening menu had plenty of choice, the food was reasonable, and the waiter service was enthusiastic.

It’s a handy stop on a road trip, with the highway nearby and the village just a short walk away. The village is beautiful, and the hotel has a large surrounding area, a big garden, and a 24-hour reception. Staff speak English and Spanish and breakfast isn’t included, I paid 1.40euros for a regular coffee. The place is good for the quality and price, but my room could’ve been cleaner and there were flies everywhere. I could hear doors from other rooms and children crying. The location is great.

Breakfast had a good range of rolls and other things. The hotel isn’t hypermodern, but it’s very nice and stylish. It’s clearly set up for large parties and weddings, so expect some noise on summer weekends. That happened during our stay too, but the windows were soundproof enough that we still slept fine.

The lovely grounds helped me feel relaxed as soon as I arrived, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I liked it enough to stay another night. The food and bar were good, though check whether they’re serving dinner. The price was good too, although I saw a higher one on web bookings. I highly recommend the hotel.
