We arrived to stained sheets in what can only be called a cave. There were ants in the bathroom and on the bedroom floor, and the sink wouldn't drain, so even washing our hands was difficult. The extractor above the shower was caked in dirt and looked as if it might fall on us. The closet shifted every time we opened or closed it and nearly fell on us. We told the owners, who simply said we could leave if we didn't like it. They offered no solution. The owner got aggressive, shouting and banging on the door, and raised his hand toward my partner and me as if he meant to hit us. This was after we said we'd report the place to the health department because it wasn't fit to stay in. SHAMEFUL

The town is very quiet, and the beaches nearby are spectacular. The closest ones are about two kilometres away and walkable, but the return is the problem because the hills are steep, and driving isn't recommended. The apartments are generally clean and have almost everything for a short stay. Mine didn't have a washing machine, and the one on the roof wasn't working.

Over 11 nights and 12 days, they never even mopped the whole apartment. I ended up buying a scouring pad and disinfectant to clean the toilets myself, and there are a brush and dustpan so you can sweep up beach sand as if you were at home. There's no wardrobe, just a fashionable clothes rack straight off the Cibeles catwalk. So much for a comfortable holiday, though at least your clothes will get plenty of air. Ask what kind of room you're booking, because the photos can give the wrong impression and you may think you're getting one thing when you end up in a cave.

The beds and pillows weren't very comfortable, and the refrigerator is awkwardly close to the sink. Otherwise, everything was fine. The apartments were clean, near the beach, and in a quiet town with restaurants nearby. The Nerja caves are only a few metres away.
