Hotel Nerja Club & Spa

A great spot overall, with wonderful views and a lovely outdoor pool, plus an indoor one as well. There's also a jacuzzi to relax in and a gym. The place was very clean, and the staff were excellent, always ready to help however they could.

The food was poor and repetitive, and I couldn't always tell what some of the dishes were. I also barely slept because the mattress was so hard. The bedrooms are tired and due for refurbishment. We stayed with family two weeks ago, and I had to change rooms because mine had only a window to open, with no balcony or terrace to sit outside, despite that being what I booked. We relied on taxis to get around because the hills made walking anywhere too difficult.

We got a reasonable package through easyjet holidays, and I think we received what we paid for, so I don't want to be overly critical. Still, be cautious about the restaurant's food labels. They were poor, and on several occasions the allergen information displayed was wrong. We spoke with staff who were courteous and tried to help, but nobody seemed sure what was being served or willing to take ownership of the problem.

Two large supermarkets, Carrefour and Mercadona, are right opposite the hotel, and there's a sports bar at the front showing LaLiga, the Premier League and other sports. The bar also has live music on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Staff were friendly, and we found the hotel clean and tidy. There are plenty of sunbeds by the pool, with lovely views over Nerja. Getting to the beach takes about 20 minutes downhill, with lots of restaurants at the bottom, but the walk back up is very steep. The central shops and restaurants are a good 25 minutes away along the main road; the slope is gentler, and there are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from there.
