Villa Carabeo Playa

Frank and Susannah are a very helpful team, and the apartment was spotless and spacious. I couldn’t have asked for more. I didn’t want to leave, so I’ve already booked again for April 2018.

Apartment 4 was a total nightmare, and I’d strongly advise against staying here. The photos gave us the impression we’d booked somewhere with more room and a larger balcony. After we complained, those misleading pictures were taken down. The balcony was a tiny Juliet style one, with a hazardous step. In the hot weather, the air conditioner was in the corridor, so we had to shut every apartment door to get even a little relief. When we raised this, nobody offered a fan for the sitting room or another fix. The bed in the room I shared with my friend made a lot of noise whenever she moved. Her mattress was very soft and dipped in the middle. They replaced it, but the new one was worse and still noisy. The ceiling fan in our room also made a racket, especially at night. The WiFi was weak, and there wasn’t a router in the apartment. We were depending on WiFi from nearby apartments. The view shown below in the pictures is of the car park where the pool and terraza are. The worst part was dealing with Frank, the manager. When we explained the problems, he got defensive, talked over us and shouted. He offered no compensation or other solution, and said, 'it's people like you who annoy me with you're reviews online.' He seemed not to care about our comfort or how disappointed we were after paying so much, only about the money from the apartments. He blamed the apartment owner, Manolo, saying its upkeep was the owner's responsibility. The way he treated us made this one of our worst experiences. We didn’t let it ruin our holiday, but it nearly did.

We’ve come here for a second time. It’s comfortable and old-fashioned, with a great spot near the shops and beaches. The rooftop pool is lovely and very clean. We’re tempted to return next year.

The apartment is basic but fine, and the location is great. Our terrace looked onto a big, busy, noisy car park, but the rooftop terrace was excellent.
