Villa La Sultana

This huge villa has a lot of potential, but we were disappointed with its upkeep, especially for a week that cost £10k. It needs modernising to be as good as it could be. When we arrived at 4pm, the cleaners were still sitting around the pool, as other reviews had mentioned. By the second morning, ants had invaded the kitchen. The cleaners had left their supplies and mop buckets by the front door, and a small gate on the way there held bottles of corrosive pool-cleaning products and other dumped items. There was an existing green mark around the pool, broken light bulbs, and old, deflated floats beside it. A bowl under the kitchen sink had been catching dirty water from a leaking waste pipe for so long it smelled. We booked through Jet2 and raised the issues with their customer service, which was not easy. Eventually, they said they’d contacted Solmar Villas, who own or manage the property. Two maintenance workers arrived the next day. One was lovely and friendly, while the younger one seemed unhappy about our complaint and was abrupt and rude. The location isn’t in Nerja, it’s just at the start of Torrox. But there’s a bus stop about a 10-minute walk away, and for €1 each, the bus ride to Nerja takes 10 minutes.
