Villa Sol Nerja

We loved our week at the villa and would happily return. It’s comfortable and furnished to a high standard apart from the sofas, with a good-sized kitchen, dishwasher, and large fridge-freezer. The washing machine is in the outdoor kitchen area, and I also found an iron and hairdryer. The pool is amazing, with a jacuzzi area that was a lovely surprise. There are steps in, but no handrail, and the water was quite cloudy when we arrived, so take care getting in and out. The villa is in the hills, with local residents around and other villas a few hundred metres away. It’s a 5-10 minute drive to Balcon de Europe and Burriana beach, and several supermarkets, including lidl and Aldi, are about as far. A little shop two minutes away sells basics, wine and beer, and fresh bread at very reasonable prices. The villa is next to a children’s play park. We expected some after-school noise, but it’s a local meeting spot, so people chat and sing there from around 6pm, and stay up late. We enjoyed it, but it may not suit you if you need quiet or are trying to get children to sleep. Our double room with ensuite had a nice balcony overlooking the pool, though it was right beside the chatter. We found the large double room with its balcony a bit odd because a staircase led up to “somewhere” that was roped off. In the evenings we relaxed downstairs in the covered poolside area, with plenty of anti-mosquito candles and plug-ins. The kitchen is basic. We mostly ate out at lunchtime and weren’t planning to cook much beyond pizza and chips, but we missed a pizza wheel, tongs, and sharp knives. I’m not sure there would be enough plates for nine people, though that wasn’t a problem for the two of us. There were no basics like salt or oil, so plan on doing a full shop if you’ll be catering for yourselves. There are also no beakers or plastic plates for children, which seemed odd for use around the pool.
