The manager said we could leave without paying, but after we left they still charged us for the first night. That was after we’d raised the terrible drain smell, the broken shower, and a sofa bed that seemed ancient and was impossible to sleep on. Air fresheners were all over the house, and when we mentioned the smell, the manager claimed she knew nothing about it, even though reviews suggest this has been going on for years. By far the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Don’t trust it.

The long power cut was the worst part. It lasted about eight hours, and no one could get Rosa, the manager, to answer the phone. We had no air conditioning, the food in the fridge spoiled, and we had to go out for lunch and dinner because cooking wasn’t possible. At 11 p.m. we got a WhatsApp saying it was fixed, with no apology; they only refunded dinner. No one came to apologize or return any other money, and we’d paid a fortune for a stay where we couldn’t be at home with the children for hours. The apartment itself wasn’t bad, but the kitchenware and cleaning were shabby. Our place smelled awful from the plumbing, had ants, and wasn’t properly clean when we arrived. We also saw other tenants treated very rudely. The way we were treated was disgraceful, and I can’t recommend it.

Rosa was so friendly, and we felt right at home for the couple of nights we stayed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely. The kitchen had everything we could need, and having an outdoor pool was a great bonus. We’ll definitely come back!

The views are excellent, and it’s easy to get around San Jose from here. Access can be tricky, though, and they should make that clearer for some guests. The place otherwise feels almost new and is very well cared for.
