Boutique Hotel El Tio Kiko

The hotel grounds are nicely kept, and the beach is only about a seven minute walk away. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff speak English, but there were several small problems that affected the stay. We arrived without beach towels and never got any during our four days. One morning they’d run out of omelettes, and after my husband waited ten minutes, the waiter said there wouldn’t be any more omelettes or eggs. We couldn’t find the breakfast or restaurant hours in the room, so we had to ask at reception. The rooms are showing their age. The cover sheet had a large hole, which they tried to hide under another sheet. The shower holder was broken, and the jacuzzi didn’t seem to work, though we didn’t try it. There also wasn’t anywhere to dry swimsuits or towels, which left us wondering whether we were expected to hang wet things on the chairs and risk damaging the furniture. These are simple things that could have made the stay much better. I wouldn’t pay more than 100eur a night for this place. If I’d paid more, I would have been disappointed.

We spent five days at hotel Tio Kiko, and it was a really relaxing stay. The staff kept checking that we had what we needed and made us feel at home. We also had a memorable meal in the restaurant. We’ll be back for sure. It’s the place to be in Almeria!

We felt very well looked after. The room was gorgeous, with a sea view and a comfortable bed, and breakfast was fantastic, especially the smoked salmon and freshly squeezed orange juice. It’s a short walk to the beach and the small town, where there are several restaurants and a little plaza. Free parking was a bonus. I’d absolutely recommend The Tio Kiko.

Maria Carmen made the stay especially enjoyable. She’d bring coffee for my family and me before we even asked, since she knew how we liked it, and she’d joke around with us too. The service was lovely, the food was delicious for a buffet, and the fruit was amazing. Our room was cozy, with soft sheets, and there are books and newspapers to read. The hotel is quiet and works well for a peaceful trip abroad in Agua amarga. Two beaches nearby make little outings easy. The pool felt a bit small to me, though it stayed calm since there weren’t many people around. One tip: don’t sleep with the air conditioning blowing strongly right next to you, or you might get a bit sick. I’d happily do this stay again and again.
