Hotel O Pino

The room was just okay, and there's no elevator. The steak was the worst I had on my travels in Spain. When I complained, the proprietor smiled and said thank you, so I figured the follow-up would go nowhere. But he came to apologize the next morning. I hadn't been taking the language barrier into account, which is only fair. He gets five stars for following up, though I'd go elsewhere for food.

The restaurant was pleasant, and I especially recommend the empanadas, caldo gallego, and tasty natillas. There's not much around the hotel. The room itself is basic, with a comfortable bed and standard bathroom. Sleeping was difficult because it got so hot. There was no air conditioning or fan in the room, and nobody offered us a fan, even though the staff must know how warm the rooms can get. Mosquitoes were everywhere too. A fan and anti-mosquito plugs could have helped with that. The hotel should invest in both; they're cheap and work well, and fans don't cost much to run.

There was hardly anyone there, yet they turned away our table of four. I wouldn't recommend eating here. The atmosphere was off-putting.

The staff came across as rude and unprofessional. We even started wondering if there was some discrimination in how we were treated. I felt foolish for assuming our American and Latin American tourist dollars would be welcome.
