Hotel Riu Fluvià

After my second stay, my room had a wonderful outlook over volcanoes and fields, with birds and cicadas all around. The clean, well kept room had classic style furniture and a modern bathroom, and everything worked as it should. Breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from, including omelette, bacon, eggs, yogurt, meat, cheese, bread, and fresh fruit. There’s a lovely path through the fields nearby, and you can walk into the city center in 10-15 minutes. The staff are always friendly and helpful, smiling and greeting guests so you feel looked after. My stay was pleasant, as usual. One drawback is the wooden doors, which don’t block much sound, so you hear people in the corridor or talking in another room. Some rooms also get a smell from the kitchen, and there can be a bit of pipe smell in the bathroom, so you need to air the room regularly.

We went to see the volcanoes around Olot and stayed one night. The hotel is on the edge of town, about a ten minute walk from the center, where there’s plenty to do, including the volcano museum and the surrounding volcanoes. We used the ground level parking lot since it wasn’t very busy during our stay on 15-16 February, though I’d read that there’s also underground parking. Our room had a 1960s style and was very nice, with two separate bedrooms, a dining table in each, and a work table in one. There was a mini freezer with nothing in it, a TV, a wheelchair accessible shower, soaps, shower gel, shampoo, and even a free comb. The food was very good. I ordered lamb chops and orange juice, but there was a mix up and peach juice came instead. The lamb came with salted fries that seemed homemade and were better than any others I’ve had. The lamb itself was so good I searched for every last bit of meat after finishing. I wasn’t starving, I’d eaten well! Dessert was a crunchy pastry with sliced strawberries and cream, shaped like a burger. On the English menu it’s called “thousand sheets with strawberry.” A very good stay, with lovely food and staff, amazing rooms, and a nice town.

The breakfast had an impressive spread, with lots to choose from, and the hotel has secure underground parking with a bike rack inside. I stayed just one night while passing through Olot. It was comfortable and clean, and the room was spacious, though a little tired, with a sizeable balcony and great views. The hotel sits on the edge of town up a rather steep hill, so it could feel like a trek if you’re not used to walking.

The room was incredibly clean, the view was ridiculously gorgeous, and the food was delicious. Restaurant and cleaning staff were super friendly. You can easily walk downhill into town or up to the mountains. There’s an accessible washroom and hand sanitizer by the doors. Also, I just love the rose curtains 😂
