I spent a few days in Olot to get a break from the city's heat and pollution before heading north. It's surprisingly close to Barcelona, yet surrounded by nature: volcanic mountains covered in lush temperate forest, with waterfalls flowing into turquoise swimming pools. This is the kind of place I wish I'd known about when I first got to Spain. It was the second most gorgeous hostel I'd stayed in, and the girl at the front desk was more than just nice, she really cared.
