Jorge shares the countryside warmth and little things that make a stay feel at home. The rooms and furnishings are simple, with plenty of space, and it’s not a picture-perfect country house. The larger apartment has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a huge living room with a fully equipped kitchen, which works well for a family or group. There’s heating throughout, free Wi-Fi, and parking on the property. Outside, there’s a large garden, a porch, and a barbecue for cooking. Ontoria is about a kilometer from Cabezón de la Sal, surrounded by meadows and away from city bustle. Jorge also provides tourist information, and great places are only a few kilometers away. It’s a traditional Cantabrian house where you can stay alongside Jorge and feel like a local. No frills, but the small details and kindness make up for that. It’s now one of my favorite places for a few days in the countryside with family, whatever the hotel star ratings say.

Thanks to Carlos, the mansion is in better condition now than it was before.
