Cal Tonarro

On Sundays, noise from the Municipal Market Square starts early and goes on from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It was so loud in the mornings that sleeping was impossible. I have photos and videos of the problems I describe. I stayed at Cal Tonarro Hotel Apartament in Organyà and was disappointed throughout, especially for €104 per night. There was dust on several surfaces, including the bed frame. I'm sensitive to dust and get itchy allergies, so I need medicine like Alerlisin, and the dust affected me during the stay. The bathroom had a lot of maintenance problems. The toilet seat was loose and felt unsafe. The light kept flickering because the photocell wouldn't stay on for even two minutes. Hot water barely worked, so I had almost no water to shower with. The drain was clogged with hair, causing bad smells and water to spill onto the bathroom floor. The shower tray's silicone seal was yellowed, which could indicate mold or mildew. The hairdryer switches didn't work, so it came on by itself as soon as it was plugged in, with no way to control it. The sink design was awkward too: the faucet arm was only about 15 to 20 cm long, leaving so little room that I bumped into it while washing my face. The hot water was terrible. If the domestic hot water system (DHW) uses storage tanks, an electric water heater, or a boiler, it seemed like it wasn't heating anything. Neither cleanliness nor comfort met expectations.

The room was comfortable, and the bathroom and other facilities were good. We arrived after coming down from Andorra, and the hotel worked fine even without a reception desk. But we barely slept. The church bells right across the street rang every 15 minutes through the night, so we were awake for every hour. It's a shame such a nice hotel can't offer a good night's sleep when this could be fixed by speaking with the town hall.

This was our second stay, but this time things went badly. The bell tower seemed broken and rang unpredictably, especially in the early morning, every 15 minutes or even more often. We couldn't put up a "Do Not Enter" sign, and they came in to clean despite our efforts. There's also a local market right outside on Sundays, with setup starting at 5 a.m. Parking was much harder from Saturday night through Sunday night.

Check-in went smoothly, and I liked the design and the overall experience. The bed was too hard for me and took some getting used to. Outside noise also came through too easily, mainly because the soundproofing is poor. The church bells at night are frustrating, though silencing them is up to the town, not the hotel. I saw reviews mentioning shower water overflowing, and that happened, but I think it's because people don't aim the water jet properly rather than a flaw in the hotel's design. I wouldn't stay here again, though I would recommend it.
