Stunning Apartment - Playamarina 2 Cabo Roig

Graham, the barman and night receptionist, is an absolute legend. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The apartments are clean, and there’s a happy, family-friendly feel. You’re right among the pubs and restaurants, but you can’t hear any noise around the pool and bar. A great little find.

We’ve just come back from two weeks at playamarina 2, our third visit, and had a fantastic time again. The pool was lovely, the apartments were great, and the atmosphere was brilliant. We caught up with friends from past holidays and made some new ones too. We were sad to head home, but we’ve booked again for next year. Alison and Graham were just as helpful, friendly, and fun as we remembered. We met Natasha for the first time this year, and she was lovely and so helpful. Shane was doing the overnight shift, a great guy who supports a great football team. We also met Viv for the first time. She runs the apartments with her husband and is such a nice lady. The staff really are fantastic.

The staff were the one bright spot. Alex and his mum were superb, and I’m very grateful to them. The apartment itself was a dismal experience. It was dirty: grime was caked around the shower base, the bathroom socket was full of dirt, and there was dust on the bathroom door panels and my bedroom wardrobe. The shower door wouldn’t close properly, so every shower flooded the bathroom and hall. We stayed five nights, and neither the towels nor bedding were changed. There was a hairdryer with a British plug, which wasn’t much use. The place looks like a tired apartment complex from the 70s or 80s, on the Cabo Roig “strip,” which is truly awful. Our supposedly three-bedroom apartment was actually a two-bedroom one, with the second bedroom split into two cell-like spaces that might work for kids but not adults.

I wouldn’t book here. We weren’t allowed to cancel our June 2020 reservation even though Spain wasn’t letting travellers enter because of the pandemic, and we still had to pay the full price. They took 14 days to respond to Hotels.com’s inquiry about cancelling, and didn’t reply until the day our stay was due to begin.
