Apartment Marina d'Or - Costa Azahar I

The location in Marina d'Or is a real plus, near both the beach and restaurants. The complex is kept up well, the pool area is clean, and reception staff were helpful. But inside, things feel very old: worn furniture, barely any kitchen equipment, no kettle and only a microwave, plus a bathroom badly in need of renovation. Housekeeping was hit or miss during our stay, and the towels were changed only now and then. For the price, especially in peak season, I expected more comfort and newer amenities. It works for a short visit if you only need somewhere to sleep, but it doesn’t feel comfortable.

The service was very good: polite, with everything explained clearly. The location is great too, right on the beach, with plenty of supermarkets and some restaurants nearby. But the house needed a lot of maintenance and wasn’t very clean. There was dirt on the doors, dust that looked like it had been there a while, and grime behind the bidet because the toilet area hadn’t been cleaned properly. Everything worked, but the place clearly needs repairs and renovation. The mirror was rusty, and the toilet wasn’t secured properly, so it hit the wall whenever you stood up, which was annoying at night. Small basics were missing too, like dish soap, a second bin bag, and another toilet roll. I also didn’t like having to pay a €150 deposit. It was returned the same day I left, but another couple staying nearby hadn’t been charged one.

We stayed recently at ISLA PARK, at 3 Amplaries Street, and had a really positive experience, despite the negative reviews. It’s right on the beachfront in Marina D'OR, with lots of nearby restaurants, shops, and other places. There was a parking space, but very limited parking in the lot; the blue zone wasn’t paid until July 1st. The apartment had a great range of kitchenware and appliances, all in good condition, and was spotlessly clean. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The pool felt almost private because there were so few guests. I can imagine it might feel too small when all the apartments are occupied in high season. Definitely recommend.

We were practically without phone signal, and I had to lean half my body over the balcony to call my family or send a message. The Wi-Fi they said was available was nowhere to be found. I’m ashamed we stayed here with my family. It was like a horror movie, and I’m sure I’ll have nightmares about the apartment. The kitchen was filthy and awful. We were afraid to switch on the microwave in case we got charged extra. The dishes were ancient and falling apart, like the rest of the fixtures, and the oven was dirtier than a car after pigeons have pooped on it. The living room had an old, uncomfortable sofa. The bedrooms were disgusting, with sheets thinner than cheap paper and uncomfortable mattresses. The bathroom was tiny, dirty, and broken, like a scene from Psycho. The bathtub was old and filthy, and it felt like even a loompa loompa couldn’t fit in there. They offer parking but hide that it costs extra, and we only found out from an old, sticky notebook. Air conditioning also costs extra, at a very high price, even in the middle of summer. The pool was the farthest away, so I had to take a dreadful taxi. My family ended up crying over the money we’d wasted. Don’t waste yours. I’d rather sleep on a sandy beach than in that bed. DO NOT COME. I was wishing Chucky would show up and kick me out.
