Apartment Miramar Oropesa del Mar

Update: We’ve now stayed here with the kids and loved every moment. The place is super clean, the pool is fantastic, and the staff are really helpful. Before the stay, I made a mistake with a booking the day before and they helped me sort it out promptly. Really looking forward to coming back with the family!

We were a family of four for six days, and were very happy with our stay. I’m giving it four stars because the good points outweighed the problems, though there’s quite a bit that could be improved. Marta from customer service was charming and professional. The location was fantastic, very close to the sea, and the apartment was in good condition and nicely decorated. It had large built-in wardrobes, adjustable coloured room lights, and a long terrace with lovely views. There were two air fresheners that smelled great when we came in, and a pretty raised painting of herbs above the sofa. The pool was lovely, with clean water and coloured lights that changed at night. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, and the beds creaked because of the plastic mattress covers. There was hardly any cutlery. The clothesline was tiny, but clothes dried very quickly because the laundry room was like a sauna. There was no hand soap, only three or four bin bags, and only three or four toilet paper rolls. In the master bathroom, the thermostat was switched off, so hot and cold water came out the wrong way round. It took one shower to work out and fix it, but that shower was quite something. The terrace had no light, fan, or air conditioning, and the table was very small. The air conditioning wasn’t centralised: a split unit only reached the dining room, there was a fan in each bedroom, and both fans switched off when the light was turned on and off. There was also a portable air conditioner, but it needed the terrace slider left open for its exhaust duct. In the middle of a heatwave, one fan wasn’t enough, so we slept with the air conditioner running and the terrace slider open, with the unit making unbearable noise. There were ants and tiny insects in the master bedroom, though we couldn’t tell where they came from because everything seemed clean. A corner cupboard shut too fast, and my daughters nearly caught their fingers in it several times. The toilet seat in the second bathroom and the dining room light fixture were broken. The elevators were too few for everyone, very slow, and hard to navigate. The pool area had its share of issues too. One entrance door and most of the umbrellas were broken, and small pieces were coming off the pool bottom. A lifeguard was there but barely monitored things or interacted with people. The pool closed for an hour at midday, which disrupted the day, and the bridge over one of the pools was extremely slippery and dangerous. I hope they take these points into account for future guests.

We’ll definitely come back. The place is really spacious, with two bathrooms, and it has everything you need, including air conditioning, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. The balcony is lovely, and the sea view is even better :)

The town itself wasn’t really to my taste, but I’d happily book this apartment again. It’s modern, practical, and spotlessly clean, and the landlord was very polite and helpful. During the second week, it was cleaned and the bed linen and towels were changed. The pool area was very good too.
