The only good thing about our one-night stay in Orpesa, Spain, booked through Booking.com, was the pleasant area. The accommodation itself fell far short of what was advertised and of basic standards for comfort, hygiene, and safety. I'm asking for a full refund and will make a formal complaint through the appropriate channels if this isn't resolved. I expect a prompt reply. Getting the key was a mess from the start. It was held at an Apartamentos3000 office about 800 metres from the property, and we spent around 40 minutes trying to find the place. There was no proper signage and no useful support. Inside, there was a strong mould smell, the bathroom smelled of sewage, and mosquitoes were everywhere, making it impossible to rest. There was no fan or air conditioning, which is unacceptable in such a hot area, especially for accommodation listed on Booking.com. A nearby bar was noisy through the night, with people shouting until about 2:30 am. My family, including our two small children, couldn't sleep at all. Given the lack of basic facilities and the poor service, we would have been better off continuing our journey instead of stopping here. They also required a deposit, as if we were staying somewhere high-end, despite the terrible quality of the service.

The sofa bed was the worst part. Its mattress was tiny and left us with terrible back pain, and the light on the balcony stayed on, making it impossible to sleep in the living room unless we shut the curtains. The room itself was dull, and we had to wash the cutlery, clean the terrace floor, and dust the chairs and table before we could use them. There were no towels or shower gel, and the shared hallways were filthy. The elevator wasn't working when we arrived, and finding parking nearby was a nightmare. Honestly, I was disappointed.

The apartment was really old. The refrigerator wasn't frost-free and had holes, and the beds were harder than a treatment. What they call air conditioning is a penguin unit, so they should say that clearly. As it is, it feels misleading.

Great for a weekend away from Madrid, especially if you want the beach and a pool. The pool is lovely, and the beach is just 3 minutes away and nice too. There are a few stones on the beach.
