La Casita del Guarda

The heating kept us very comfortable during some really cold days, and we had a lovely stay with our family. The house is fantastic, clean, and welcoming. We’ll definitely come back, especially in summer to enjoy the pool, barbecue, and terrace. Highly recommended.

The garden, pool, and barbecue area at the back were lovely for the children, and we enjoyed relaxing on the terrace. The bedrooms are large, the beds comfortable, and the bathroom modern and quite nice. The owners were friendly, communication was good, and the countryside location works well for walks, hikes, or trips to La Granja and Segovia. We stayed last weekend with friends and their children. We usually rent three or four rural houses near Madrid each year, and find it useful to read reviews before choosing. I don’t know what this house was like before, since the last Google review was 5 months ago, but here’s our experience, which might help the owners improve. The living room is very small, and gets uncomfortable with more than 6 or 7 people or several children. Apart from the bathroom, the house feels old and needs renovation. The kitchenware should be replaced, as it’s old and not very clean. Cleanliness was poor, especially around the barbecue: cobwebs, dirty utensils, leftovers from previous barbecues, and broken furniture. Some less visible areas inside also had dust and dirt. The owners live on the same property in a nearby house. There was construction on a neighboring property, with all the materials there. They require a €150 deposit, which is returned several days after you leave. For a couple of days, it’s not a bad option given the price and location, but it needs some significant improvements. It wasn’t among the best houses we’ve stayed in, though it could work depending on the group and their expectations. We tend to look for a bigger living room and better cleanliness, and this didn’t meet those preferences. Other things, like the garden and location, were good. Thanks anyway for having us.

The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the surroundings were beautiful. The location was fantastic, too. We loved the place right from the start, thanks to the hospitality from Laura and Jesús and the house being in such excellent condition. It was very clean and well maintained, and the hosts were welcoming and attentive to every detail. We’ll definitely return!
