Hotel Silken Monumental Naranco

We picked it for the pool since rain was forecast that weekend, and the pool was very clean. The hotel itself was spotless, and although our room wasn’t huge, it was perfectly fine. Housekeeping was impeccable, reception was friendly, and check-in was quick. Breakfast was good too: fresh juice, fruit, and warm croissants. There was a lovely older gentleman on the weekend breakfast shift, very sweet, though I’m sorry I don’t know his name. I skipped the sauna and gym, too busy with croissants 🙄. The location worked for us. We walked 15,000 steps a day, and it’s about 15 minutes to the historic part of town, which may be too far for some. We were happy to walk and make up for skipping the gym. I got a great price, so it was excellent value and I’d definitely return. I didn’t find the room too warm, as some reviews mention. It has huge windows and a thermostat anyway.

We’ve stayed here twice now. The hotel is lovely, the staff are really nice, and our front-facing rooms had mountain views. The location is perfect for the football stadium, with several bars and cafes nearby. The four-star rating reflects the same things as last time: there’s no air conditioning at this time of year and no tea or coffee in the room. We felt a bit ignorant with our very limited Spanish, so we’ll try to learn some before coming back next year.

We held my son’s wedding reception here. The location was good, the food was good, and the staff were very helpful. I’d recommend it.

We came for the nearby Fernández Vega Eye Clinic, which makes the location excellent for that purpose. Downtown is less convenient, though still walkable. The Silken Monumental Naranco hotel in Oviedo is spotlessly clean, and the staff are attentive. Housekeeping especially went out of their way to make us comfortable. We suggested a kettle on the first survey, and one appeared in our room within two hours. An extra pillow arrived right away too. The restaurant serves good food, the cafeteria has snacks, and breakfast is excellent, with plenty of breads, yoghurts, cheeses, cold cuts, cereals, jams, juices, fresh fruit, a healthy corner, and a hot dish. The coffee machine is the one weak point, since it can’t match coffee from a café, but everything else makes up for it. I’d highly recommend staying here.
