Monte Marina Naturist Resort

The whole complex is naturist, with miles of sandy beach at the bottom of a steep path. There's also an excellent restaurant within easy walking distance at the linked (textile) hotel. The apartments are arranged among winding paths above a pool. Ours was beautifully decorated and equipped, spotless and new, with a sun terrace looking out over palm trees and little gardens.

This is my second visit. It's mostly a German resort and a great place for peace and quiet, time to relax and reflect. The owner is renovating the nudist apartments at the moment, but it hasn't affected my holiday at all. For breakfast and dinner, it's a short walk to the main hotel, Marina Playa. The food won't suit everyone, but food isn't why I'm here. Morro Jable is a taxi ride away if you want more places to eat or shop. Esquenzo is quiet, with just a few shops, a bar, a souvenir shop, and a short walk to the beach.

The complex is beautifully landscaped, peaceful, and right by the sea. I wish I'd had more time and will definitely come back for longer. My uniquely designed apartment, with a small staircase leading to the living room and balcony “downstairs,” seemed recently renovated. From the balcony I could look over the pool, sheltered by plants, and even have breakfast there in chilly January. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. The kitchen had nearly everything I needed, and reception could provide a toaster on request. Small portions of salt, pepper, and olive oil would have been welcome. The shower setup could be improved, as water leaked onto the floor and into the bathroom. The pool is nicely designed and not too cold. I always found a free lounger and didn't see anyone reserving them. Large towels are available at reception for a deposit. The Wi-Fi was reliable the whole time, including while I worked there. Staff were always friendly and helpful, and the Duffner family were especially easy and warm to deal with. The location is a big plus: a short walk to a wide, seemingly endless white beach, a mini-market diagonally opposite with the essentials, and a bus stop within walking distance with buses to places like Morro Jable and Puerto del Rosario.
