Casa Camino Turismo Rural

We stayed two nights and wished we'd added one more. My wife, our 2 1/2 year old son, and I were doing the Camino Primitivo from Lugo, and this made a perfect rest stop. It's also a good base for families, people on the Camino Frances, or anyone traveling in the area. The family who owns and runs it have huge hearts, make you feel at home right away, and clearly love helping people. Service was first class throughout. We ate all three meals there each day, with snacks and coffee in between, and everything was fantastic. I think I actually gained weight on this stretch! We'll definitely return for another Camino and for family vacations. Just fabulous.

The choice was easy once I found Casa Camino Turismo Real (CCTV), with its renovated 800 year old home and inviting host. We came from Madrid and started the Camino in Sarria, then went to Portomarin and Palas de Rei, with Melide next. It was hard to find a place in Palas de Rei that suited us. I highly recommend skipping town and taking a taxi, an easy walk into town plus 15 Euros, for the lovely lodging, amazing dinner and breakfast, and beautiful countryside. It's an upscale property and worth being pampered for one night. In the morning, hike the Camino Primitivo 9 miles to Melide to reconnect with the Camino Frances.

The rooms were comfortable and sparkling clean, and the meal was fantastic, especially the anchovies starter. Magdalena and her husband were perfect hosts. I hope to come back one day.

The oatmeal with fresh fruit was a real treat. I thought I'd never find homemade porridge on the Camino! Dinner was delicious too, and the whole place was beautiful, spotless, and well maintained. My husband and I stayed at Casa Camino on July 29, 2024, while walking the Camino Primitivo. We arrived early, but the hostess welcomed us and made things easy. When she showed us our room, we were amazed. Thanks for helping make our Camino great. We highly recommend Casa Camino.
