We only found this hotel late at night because we'd been locked out of Don Rodrigo after forgetting the door code for entry after 11 PM. The reception was friendly and staffed around the clock. The rooms are simple, but have everything you need, and the location is very central.

The staff were professional and helpful, and the location is good. A cafe is right next door, since there's no food at the hotel. But this is an extremely dated, overpriced two-star place. My room had only one power socket, so I had to charge my phone with a power bank.

The central location made it easy to see the city, and the rooms were clean, but very dark. For this much money, the hotel feels tired and old. It was also hard to sleep: the walls are paper thin, so you hear every noise from adjoining rooms, and people in the apartments at the back can be noisy at night.

While I was looking for an apartment, Hotel Monclus was my home. The staff were welcoming and so kind, and the price was very reasonable. They even cleaned the room every day unless you asked them not to, which is rare for a hostel. I'd definitely recommend it.

Palencia’s old quarter is beautiful and worth seeing in the evening. The hotel worked well for my brother and me as a good-value overnight stop on our way south. It was fine, though a bit old-fashioned, and parking was a problem.
