We ended up having to find somewhere else at the last minute so we could enjoy our vacation. Hotel Rosa in Begur was charming, by the way, and we highly recommend it. The whole experience before that was terrible, with service that felt completely unprofessional and unreliable. A few days before our arrival, we called to check that everything was in order because we'd received odd emails from a foreign agency asking us to pay for extra things. We ignored them, and were told everything was fine. But when we arrived, they gave us only a room in poor condition, with a strong damp smell, completely different from the apartment we'd booked and paid for through Booking.com. They vaguely suggested we'd need to pay extra to get the apartment, even though we'd paid for those conditions from the start. They tried to disclaim responsibility by saying we'd booked through the agency, but the reservation was through Booking.com, which is what matters, and they have an agreement with that agency to market the apartments. The treatment was arrogant. They even made it sound like they were doing us a favor by letting us sleep in that room for the night. We couldn't stay there.

Pals is lovely, especially its charming medieval village, but I had mixed feelings about the accommodation. It was relatively clean apart from the shower door, which was full of mold, and the pool was definitely its best feature. The place is expensive for what you get. It isn't ideal for six: the sofa bed is worn, and the entrance door and windows are so poorly insulated that you can hear the street as if you're sleeping outside. The equipment is pretty worn too. The fridge overheats and is almost unusable, and there's no kettle or oven. We had to return the keys by 10:00, but at 9:15 the cleaners opened our door, which felt like pressure to leave quickly.

Nil gave us helpful advice and recommendations, and the picturesque town was the icing on the cake. A visit to the medieval city at nightfall is a must. We had a dream week in this lovely residence, with a beautifully decorated, well-equipped apartment. The pool was perfect and spotless. Everything you need for an idyllic holiday. We'll be back ☺️

We had the front apartment, and it was a shame there wasn't a small terrace. It was a lovely, pleasant rental, very clean, with a spotless pool and a nice little place to relax. The washing machine was handy for cutting down on laundry, though there was no dishwasher. They also provided a welcome kit with a sponge, dish soap, and dishcloth, plus shower gel and shampoo samples, so we had what we needed to settle in comfortably.
