Casa Rural La Cortina

Breakfast was made with local products, and Yolanda told me who had made them and how. I spent three nights at Carlos and Yolanda's place and felt more like I was staying with friends than at a guesthouse. They’ve created a really distinctive, peaceful spot, and both were such lovely hosts. If I head back to NP Picos de Europa, I’d stay there again for sure. Thanks so much for the wonderful memories.

Carlos and Yolanda know the Asturian region so well that their suggestions led us to some magical places and made our trip even more special. We went to Casa Rural La Cortina for our honeymoon, and my husband and I couldn’t have been happier with our choice. They were wonderful from the first day and made us feel at home; we connected with them straight away and followed their advice throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious, too, with beautiful mountain views. I’m already counting the days until we can return to this special place.

Carlos was engaging and helpful, even with my basic Spanish. He knows the area incredibly well and pointed us toward good restaurants, interesting routes, and sights that weren’t crowded, even in August. A friend of his speaks English and can help with translation if needed. The room was comfortable, breakfast was included and delicious, and you can make tea or have a beer or sidre in the evening. The inn is a well-established B and B, though it hasn’t been on Airbnb long. It’s in an old fieldstone house that Carlos renovated himself, with about six rooms or suites overlooking the mountains. The views are spectacular, despite being close to a main road. He clearly loves this beautiful area and is a natural host who wants guests to enjoy it. We’d like to come back in October to see the major sights with fewer tourists.
